Course Overview
Methods and equipment used in the production of non-panel engineered wood products (LVL, OSL, PSL - Parallam, Com-ply) are examined. Processes include wood preparation, drying, gluing, mat / billet formation, pressing, and finishing. The combination of wood based elements to form structural building components and the properties and uses of these products will be explored.

- WOOD 1035 and Completion of Tier 3 courses.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Evaluate the various manufacturing processes and equipment involved in non-panel engineered wood products manufacture.
- Describe processes and equipment used in engineered wood products (LVL, OSL, PSL-Parallam, Com-ply) manufacture.
- Evaluate engineered wood products processing practices.
- Identify problems in engineered wood products processing procedures and recommend corrective action.
- Describe testing standards used for engineered wood products manufacture.
- Evaluate procedures for testing strength characteristics of engineered wood products.
- Compare the various structure and non-structure properties of engineered wood products and recommend appropriate products for specific use.
