BCIT's Business Skills Training program will help you attain a hands-on practical business education that will allow you to immediately make a positive impact in the small and medium sized business sectors, the recognized engine of BC's economy. You will acquire relevant business skills, receive up-to-date training with computer based business applications, and gain an understanding of what an appropriate career path might be. Whether you're considering establishing a career in business, contemplating a career change, or wanting to update your skills, the BCIT Business Skills Training program will help you meet your business training goals.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be have and/or be able to;
- Understand the fundamentals of running a small to medium sized business in today's business environment.
- Acquire essential business skills, including marketing plan development and market research.
- Learn how to assist in the development and implementation of a marketing strategy detailing competition and positioning, promotion, pricing, and placement.
- Acquire a solid understanding of bookkeeping that will enable you to assist in the preparation and interpretation of financial statements.
- Enhance your written and verbal business communication skills.
- Gain a working knowledge of the computer as a business tool using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
- Understand and apply human resource tools such as time and stress management, goal setting, labour standards, and business law.
- Use the knowledge and tools acquired throughout the program to develop and implement a relevant career strategy.
