Course Overview
This course provides students with theories and practices related to training and development, and its impact on employee engagement and retention, emphasizing their critical role in business success. Students will learn key elements and principles related to adult learning, pedagogy, evaluation and development planning that align with individual aspirations and organizational needs. Students will also review key employee belonging and engagement practices, including survey design and applying best practices to translate insights into actionable strategies. Additionally, students will explore the use of AI in engagement and training initiatives and understand the vital role of HR in fostering a culture that supports both employee growth and organizational objectives.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe key principles and practices related to adult learning and development.
- Conduct a needs assessment for an organization to identify required skills and evaluate Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support targeted training initiatives.
- Develop and deliver training courses, including creating materials and facilitating sessions.
- Assess the ROI of training and development programs, using data-driven approaches to demonstrate their impact on employee performance and business outcomes.
- Identify key differences in designing and planning in-person versus eLearning initiatives.
- Explain the concepts of employee engagement, development, and retention and how they contribute to overall business success.
- Explain principles supporting effective survey design, administration and analysis.
- Describe the principles and best practices in survey design, including creating sound question/item administration and analysis.
- Use AI to design and administer engagement surveys and training programs, enhancing efficiency and personalization.
- Identify the role of HR in enabling business results and creating shareholder value while understanding that culture is a shared responsibility across the organization.
