Course Overview
Keeping track of documentation in multiple versions and drafts in a hectic writing environment in which documents are frequently updated or customized for different clients, is a complex but vital task. This course teaches organization-wide document management practices that streamline the documentation process and save time, money and embarrassment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- understand documentation management and configuration management systems (PDM, ERP, and so on)
- work with engineering change orders (ECOs) and engineering change notices (ECNs)
- manage, vault and perform gatekeeping and copy distribution functions on all drafts and revisions
- employ and track vital document control information
- work with both paper-based and electronic documents
- write and edit in groups and set up proper writing/approval sequences and hierarchies
- manage digital assets company-wide, ensure document security, and control backups
- work with style guides and corporate templates and provide consistent branding
