Course Overview
Directed Studies enables the students to propose an area of study that would lend itself to increased learning through the exploration of study in Selected Topics areas. This Technical Elective course of study may vary from term to term and may include subjects such as: technology and design; environmental ethics; Studies abroad, architectural workshops; Evaluation, Communication and Monitoring of Project deliveries. The student must submit a Statement of Intent which is to be reviewed and approved by the Program Head prior to the student's ability to register for this elective.

Teaches the students effective specific management skills and critical thinking that would apply to their area of interest.
Emphasizes breadth of learning: encouraging cross-disciplinary approaches, ideas, and solutions, as well as discussing connections, comparisons, and continuities between and among fields of knowledge and technologies.
The course requires that students research a specific topic area outside of the required course materials, in order to cultivate research methodology skills. Students may also be required to present their ideas and research findings in an accepted academic format (e.g. research paper/report) which includes proper citation of sources.
The student may explore and participate in diverse socio-cultural learning opportunities related to their area of study (Studies Abroad).
