Course Overview
Provides both the theory and practical training needed to effectively navigate confined spaces in various industries. Participants will learn the essential elements of a structured confined space program, methods for effective hazard identification, and techniques for atmospheric monitoring. The course covers key protocols during confined space emergencies, selection criteria for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and the defined roles and responsibilities for personnel. Additionally, attendees will be familiarized with procedures for ventilation and purging to ensure a safe environment and the purpose and completion process for confined space entry permits.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Interpret WorkSafeBC legislation, policies and guidelines governing confined space entry.
- Define the roles and responsibilities for personnel in confined space operations.
- Identify potential hazards in confined spaces in workplaces.
- Conduct risk assessment for categories of confined spaces.
- Recognize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on specific confined space hazards.
- Understand procedures for atmospheric monitoring within confined spaces.
- Demonstrate techniques for effective ventilation and purging to ensure a safe environment.
- Describe the essential elements of a structured confined space program.
- Explain the purpose and completion process for confined space entry permits.
- Demonstrate the protocols for standby, rescue and confined space emergencies.
