Presents essential behaviours for conducting psychosocial and physical assessment. Includes techniques for taking a health history in order to identify health needs. Provides opportunity for practice and demonstration of the learned skills. Corequisite: NURS 1020

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Provide professional caring based on knowledge and skills.
- Begin to communicate professionally. Begin to establish effective partnership with clients, members of the health care team, clinical instructor and peers. Begin to spontaneously help team members.
- Begin to develop critical thinking skills.
- Begin to recognize learning as a way of developing professional practice. Begin to monitor own practice and begin to identify learning needs. With support act on learning needs. Begin to recognize and discuss safe nursing practice.
- Begin to recognize professional nursing role in health care team.
- Demonstrate assessment skills competently and with increasing confidence.
