Course details

The purpose of this online course is to introduce students to the currently-accepted best practices in clinical education. It will cover clinical instruction, mentorship, and preceptorship. Students will be introduced to instructional techniques in the clinical setting. Theoretical approaches to teaching and learning in clinical education are covered along with hands-on teaching and learning strategies. The course will also cover basic methods of addressing interpersonal issues that may impact learning.

  • Discuss the importance of clinical education.
  • Describe the instructional role as it relates to medical imaging.
  • Analyze the theoretical approaches to teaching and learning in the clinical setting.
  • Discuss the methods of giving constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrate effective methods in giving and receiving feedback.
  • Compare and contrast the common areas of conflict in clinical education.
  • Discuss basic strategies in addressing interpersonal issues in clinical education.
  • Understand and apply authentic assessment strategies in clinical education.
  • Create a positive learning environment conducive to constructive clinical education.
