Course Overview
This six-week clinical experience will provide the IEMLT with the opportunity to gain real-time exposure to work in the Canadian clinical laboratory. The content of the placement will be customized to align with the previous experience of the IEMLT and the requirements of the sponsoring clinical site. The IEMLT will apply both foundational and practical knowledge in demonstrating a capacity to practice safely and professionally.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate the technical and professional competence required of an entry-level practitioner.
- Recognize and call upon the foundational knowledge and technical skills required for each medical laboratory discipline practised.
- Perform duties at a pace no less than that expected of an entry-level technologist given task complexity and specimen priority.
- Adapt appropriately when workflow is interrupted.
- Appropriately analyse laboratory data and correlate with clinical significance.
- Apply appropriate safe practice at all time.
