Presents information on basic business and marketing practices. Topics include portfolios, presentations, resumes, contracts and interviews relating to interior design.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will:
- Describe effective job search techniques to find an entry-level position in the interior design industry or related field.
- Explain the variety of employment opportunities in interior design.
- Prepare a relevant resume and cover letter.
- Present a component of a basic portfolio in a professional manner.
- State the professional standards of the interior design business.
- State the standard methods for contracting and charging for interior design services.
- Explain the client/interior designer relationship, and with whom the responsibilities lie for what.
- Write basic furniture/equipment specifications, purchase orders, invoices, installation inspections and deficiency reports.
- Be able to discuss ethics with respect to working with the trades/suppliers/and other design professionals.
- State the names of the professional design associations in Canada and the USA, including NCIDQ.
- Solve case studies by applying ethical decision making.
