Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have a basic, working understanding of:
- Interpret architectural drawings.
- Design and select chimney flues for solid fuel heaters.
- Describe allocation of space within a building.
- Describe stair construction components and other building transportation systems.
- Describe doors and windows according to their types and characteristics.
- Interpret electrical drawings.
- Interpret structural drawings.
- Describe construction materials and techniques used for timber, steel and reinforced concrete buildings.
- Describe roofing materials, characteristics, application techniques and drainage procedures.
- Describe building envelope thermal and vapor control systems.
