Course Overview
The aim of the course is to enable students to develop knowledge and examination of civil services used in commercial and institutional buildings and their significance in the design and construction phases. The lectures will be delivered in 3 hour units per week by a qualified Professional Quantity Surveyor. The 3 hour units will be broken down into a 1 hour lecture and a 2 hour lab session allowing the student to work within a group context to assist learning and allowing question and answer time with the lecturer.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Examine, interpret and measure civil works based upon construction drawings.
- Develop a schedule of civil works.
- Formulate and apply productivity rates.
- Identify required resources.
- Plan the construction process for civil services.
- Translate above outcomes into a construction estimate for a variety of common civil works.
