Course Overview
The course will ensure that students become familiar with the shipboard control circuits, major components and their function. The students can use these acquired skills to safely perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on control systems aboard commercial vessels.
Prerequisite(s)
- Transport Canada Candidate Document Number (CDN); Minimum 18 years of age at the start of the course.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the basic principles of relays and Programable Logic Controllers (PLC's).
- Identify the main components of marine control systems, along with their function.
- Perform basic programing of PLC's.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and of marine control systems.
