Course Overview
This course will cover base building finishes for residential interiors including floors, walls and ceilings. Sustainable and environmental issues will be emphasised during this course. Students will be introduced to local suppliers and manufacturers through guest lectures and field trips.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Research and source base building finishes for the interior built environment focussing on ecological and sustainable methods and materials.
- Identify the characteristics and suitability of various base building finishes and installation methods.
- Appropriately document basic specifications for materials.
- Incorporate sustainable design practices into all work.
- Critically analyse existing material installations.
- Identify characteristics of materials in terms of life cycle analysis.
- Develop professional relationships with industry representatives.
