Course details

​Strengthen your fundamental understanding of automotive brake system theory, operation and testing. This course is suitable for professional technicians, apprentices, and enthusiasts. Not all concepts will be covered during scheduled class / shop time as this course incorporates an online learning resource requiring students to complete an additional 5-10 hours knowledge development per week.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe hydraulic brake and parking brake system configuration and components.
  • Inspect hydraulic brake and parking brake system components.
  • Understand processes required to safely service automotive braking systems.
  • Understand the fundamental operating principles of anti-lock brake systems
  • Develop diagnostic skills necessary to diagnose automotive brake systems.
