Course Overview
This applied experiential skills lab will challenge learners to adapt and apply previous learning to realistic simulated medical imaging procedures identified in the CAMRT competency profile including a variety of common imaging encounters with simulated patients in General Radiography, Operating Room, mobile and CT environments, with a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrating exemplary patient care through respectful communication and genuine concern, learners will accurately assess patients for contraindications and appropriateness of requests, respond to patient questions and concerns, recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergent situations, document examination details and verify acquired data. Utilizing a variety of diagnostic imaging equipment and common accessory equipment, learners will demonstrate critical thinking and skill to achieve requirements of imaging exams with a high degree of accuracy, safety and efficiency in each of the previously mentioned environments including adherence to established methods of infection control and sterile techniques according to the CAMRT Scope of Practice.
