Course Overview
This course focuses on the systems approach to the analysis and design of the systems and infrastructure required to operate an airfield efficiently and effectively. In addition, students will design and justify the runway, taxiway,apron, lighting and marking requirements for an airport of their choice based upon current and future aviation activity.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Apply general concept and principles of the systems approach methodology for planning an airfield.
- Explain the purpose of a master plan.
- Interpret aviation forecasts.
- Explain the interaction of the airspace and air traffic control system with the ground facilities.
- Calculate runway capacity.
- List the advantages and disadvantages of the various terminal operations.
