International fees are typically 3.25 times the domestic tuition. Exact cost will be calculated upon completion of registration.
Course Overview
This course continues on from COMP 2660 and covers additional wireless LAN topics. Discussions include: antennas, RF hardware components, PoE devices, RF troubleshooting, RF range and WEP. Hands-on exercises cover attacks on wireless LANs and site survey fundamentals. Students are prepared to write the CWNA exam (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) which covers a broad range of wireless LAN topics focused on 802.11 wireless technology rather than products of specific vendors.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Describe the basic attributes, purpose and functions of RF antenna types used in wireless networks.
 - Recognize each RF antenna type’s radiation pattern and describe proper locations for installing antennas.
 - Describe common PoE device options, and explain the components of PoE devices that determine their compatibility.
 - Describe common wireless LAN hardware accessories and explain their functions.
 - Describe the causes of multipath fading, hidden nodes and near/far problems on a wireless LAN and how to troubleshoot for solutions.
 - Describe key sources of overhead on wireless LANs and how to increase throughput by the proper configuration and placement of wireless LANs.
 - Describe sources of wireless LAN interference and recognize tools used to check and troubleshoot RF interference.
 - Describe the three general conditions that affect the communication range of wireless LAN devices, and explain steps to control the transmission range of wireless LANs.
 - Explain basic WEP concepts and vulnerabilities and describe the appropriate use and configuration of SSID, MAC, and protocol filters.
 - Describe methods hackers use to attack wireless LANs and identify emerging security solutions for wireless networks.
 - Identify the tasks, appropriate equipment and tools involved performing a site survey before implementing a wireless network.
