Course Overview
This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of mass timber connection design, from first principles through to the specification of proprietary systems. Drawing from the gravity systems key plan developed in the preceding course, participants explore connection arrangements at key structural interfaces and work through design examples for bolt and dowel type connections and self-tapping screws to CSA O86. Emphasis is placed on the role of manufacturers, fabrication tolerances, fire design requirements, and the practical realities of connection accessibility and assembly sequencing. The course equips participants to coordinate effectively between engineering design, shop drawings, and proprietary product technical reports.
