Care of children with severe burns, multi-system organ failure, head injuries, and following open-heart surgery will be addressed. Clinical decision making in the care of these critically-ill children is the major focus, emphasizing concepts related to knowing the child, family-centered care, systematic inquiry, critical thinking, and collaboration with members of the health care team.
