Transit

Take transit and avoid bumper-to-bumper gridlock traffic and finding a parking spot on campus. Coming to campus by Transit is convenient and affordable. Save on gas and parking fees and help the environment by lowering emissions.

Taking Transit to Campus

  • Plan your commute by looking up bus numbers, routes, and departure times makes the trip much more enjoyable. Use the TransLink Trip Planner or Next Bus Tool for real-time info, as schedules vary by day, with earlier starts and later finishes on weekdays.
  • Save on Transit Fare: Your BCIT U-Pass BC gives you unlimited Bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus access across Metro Vancouver, plus discounts on West Coast Express. See Tips for U-Pass BC for more information.
  • Transit and Bikes: Cycling to a transit hub and take transit to campus. Did you know that you can bring your bike onto a transit? Buses have bike racks and Skytrain have designated cars that can hold several bikes. Translink do not allow seated electric mopeds/e-scooters, motorbike-style e-bikes (electric, or gas-powered) or bike trailers on board any transit vehicles.

The new Metrotown-North Shore bus rapid transit (BRT) corridor will connect major destination to the BCIT Burnaby and the Marine campuses.

Transit Etiquette

A few tips on transit etiquette will help ensure a smooth ride for you and your fellow riders:

  • Move toward the back of the bus as soon as you board. After getting on a bus, make your way as far back as possible to allow more people to get on.
  • Take the initiative to make everyone’s commute more pleasant.
  • Take note of preferred seating for riders with special needs. Get up and offer your seat to someone that may need it.
  • Remove your backpack or bag and place it at your feet. This frees up space for more riders to board the bus or train.
  • On crowded buses, start moving to the exit a stop or two early in order to minimize last-minute shoving.
  • Translink buses have helpful visual displays at the front of the bus indicating the next stop as well as whether someone has requested a stop.
