Course Overview
This advanced disability case management workshop provides OHNs with tools and skills to provide effective medical case management. The course emphasizes the application of the nursing process and evidence-based clinical practice guidlines in case management. Addresses the legal aspects of consent, confidentiality, and charting. Provides direction in commissioning and interpreting independent medical evaluations. Uses the job demands analysis process as a tool for return to work planning. Describes metrics to measure the effectiveness of the medical case management process. Principles are applied during in-class studies and small group/class discussion.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion the student will be able to:
- Identify, collect, evaluate, and document appropriate case management information in a way that complies with legal and professional standards.
- Use a variety of case management tools for example, Occupational Fitness Assessment Form, Independent Medical Evaluations, and Job Demands Analysis.
- Develop and use evidence-based clinical practice guidelines in medical case management.
- Communicate effectively with other members of the case management team.
- Use the nursing process in ongoing claims management.
- Describe metrics to measure the effectiveness of medical case management.
