Course Overview
This course equips students with important frameworks and essential skills to drive organizational performance by understanding the business and focusing on the organization's feedback systems, processes, and coaching to clarify and influence people and behaviours. Students will learn to develop effective performance management systems, including goal setting, competency-based appraisals, and development plans. To drive individual performance within these systems, human resources leaders must influence stakeholders, coach managers and employees, and provide critical feedback supporting organizational goals. The course covers the basics of coaching, performance feedback, effective disciplinary conversations and documentation.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define a high-performance culture, its importance, its impact on business success, and the critical components involved.
- Explain the role of HR and its critical importance in building and sustaining a high-performance culture within the organization.
- Design a comprehensive performance management framework tailored to an organization, incorporating calibrations, 9-box grids, SMART Goals, OKRs, and rating scales.
- Articulate the responsibilities of managers, HR, employees, and the business in creating and sustaining a high-performance culture, focusing on understanding the "why" behind these responsibilities.
- Explain coaching models and critical components of coaching.
- Apply coaching skills for how managers conduct effective performance conversations, including delivering and documenting constructive feedback.
- Design a performance improvement plan with coaching, templates, and guidelines to ensure consistency and fairness across a business.
- Explain ways to assess individual and organizational performance, identify high performers, and impact of performance on overall business success.
- Describe strategies to foster a culture that supports development, trust, and continuous improvement, focusing on coaching, feedback, and leadership’s role in performance management.
- Identify emerging frameworks in performance management.
- Explain HR’s role in the performance management process to foster a performance-driven culture.
