Course Overview
Workshop designed to equip law enforcement, regulatory and governmental analysts, investigators and security specialists to conduct intelligence-based threat and risk assessments in the spheres of North American border security, transportation security and critical infrastructure protection. Participants will learn to plan and conduct risk-related information gathering and assessment activities, and to produce credible, client-focused threat and risk assessment products. Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Articulate the primary elements of Canadian and the U.S. approaches to the protection of borders, transportation systems and critical infrastructure.
- Explain the nature of threat and risk assessments, their component elements and the process used to develop threat and risk assessment products.
- Conduct conceptual modelling, task definition and project planning as a foundation for strategic threat and risk assessment projects.
- Apply threat and risk assessment methodology within the larger framework of intelligence support for national security and critical infrastructure protection missions.
- Recognize and address the distinctive challenges of applying threat and risk assessment methodology to the specific contexts of border security, transportation security and critical infrastructure protection missions.
- Develop threat assessment, vulnerability assessment and risk assessment products suitable for use by governmental and other public sector clients.
- Articulate risk mitigation options and develop pertinent recommendations for clients.
