Course Overview
A contextualized patient care course for Canadian Medical Radiography practice that incorporates professionalism, professional communication standards and expectations of people receiving care in Canadian culture, including concepts related to efficiency and scope of practice. Incorporated within this course are diverse patient perspectives representative of the population in Canada, and an examination of aspects of Canadian healthcare culture. Specific application of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT) competency profile will be applied to concepts related to patient assessment, privacy and confidentiality, consent, healthcare ethics, patient care equipment and the safe delivery of medical radiography services, including concepts relevant to personal wellbeing and resilience. Additional topics explored in this course include safe management and use of common venous access devices and other tubes and lines; infection control standards, sterile techniques, and common pharmaceuticals encountered in radiography procedures.
