Course Overview
Do you like using a personal computer? Can you use computer applications? Discover if you have the mindset to CREATE computer applications. This interesting workshop shows students what a software engineer (computer programmer) actually does on a day-to-day basis and gives students hands-on lab experience with typical programming tasks. Learn to understand problems through analysis and communication prior to designing a software solution. Take two short Programming Aptitude Tests to find out if you have the ability or interest to move on and learn specific programming languages.

Learning Outcomes
Lectures and hands on lab exercises that show typical tasks involving the programmer skill set.
- Overview the programmer skill set
- Understanding a problem through analysis
- Communicating the solution to other persons
- Designing a logical solution for the problem from start to finish
- Constructing and testing a program to implement the solution
These lectures and exercises build skills that use both left-brain and right-brain to create and design software solutions through analysis, communication and logic. A "Programming Aptitude Test" is delivered to help students decide if they want to start taking specific courses to learn how to become a programmer.
