Course Overview
This course introduces students to the general structure and layout of the current BC Fire Code, including an overview of the Code adoption process and key content from the Preface. Students will receive a general introduction to Division A (Parts 1, 2, 3), Division C (Parts 1, 2), and Division B (Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7). Topics covered include indoor and outdoor storage, classification of flammable and combustible liquids, and related safety measures such as spill control, containers and portable tanks, cabinets for container storage, and hazardous processes and operations. Students are expected to bring a copy of the current BC Fire Code to the first class.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the structure and layout of the BC Fire Code, including Divisions A, B, and C.
- Explain the process for adopting and updating the BC Fire Code.
- Identify the purpose and general content of the Preface and key Parts of each Division.
- Navigate and interpret Parts 1, 2, 6, and 7 of Division B.
- Summarize the key components of Parts 3, 4, and 5 of Division B, including regulations related to indoor and outdoor storage.
- Classify flammable and combustible liquids according to the Code.
- Recognize requirements for spill control, containers and portable tanks, cabinets for container storage, and hazardous processes and operations.
- Apply foundational knowledge of the BC Fire Code to real-world fire safety and prevention scenarios.
