Course Overview
This course will introduce the student to engine construction and rebuilding techniques and procedures. The students will be assigned an operational engine which they will disassemble and diagnose all components, produce a parts requisition, and report on component and engine condition. The students would then reassemble the engine using proper procedures and techniques.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Describe an engine's components and operation.
- Diagnose and inspect an engine before disassembly.
- Remove and disassemble an engine.
- Service engine block and cylinders.
- Describe, remove, and install friction and anti-friction bearings.
- Describe and service crankshafts, flywheels, vibration dampers, and balancers.
- Describe and service piston and piston rings.
- Describe and service connecting rods.
- Describe and service cylinder heads.
- Describe and service valve trains.
- Describe and replace gaskets, seals, and sealants.
- Describe how to balance an engine.
- Assemble an engine.
- Start, stop, and break-in an engine.
