Course Overview
This course centers on weld coupon testing and welding and fabrication projects suitable for use in high school Technology programs. Students will gain experience with oxy-acetylene processes, plasma cutting, MIG, TIG and shielded metal arc welding of various metals.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Describe the safety precautions and procedures for welding, cutting and related processes.
- Identify the protective equipment and clothing needed for welding.
- Specify the appropriate equipment for common welding processes.
- Create welds in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions.
- Safely weld and cut using oxyacetylene, electric arc, MIG ,TIG, plasma and carbon-arc gouging processes.
- Develop learning aides and jigs for a classroom environment.
- Demonstrate specialty welding techniques including hardfacing, brazing, and alloy welding.
- Develop and execute a project consisting of the majority of welding processes, incorporating welds in all positions.
