Course Overview
Examines the principles and practices of procurement for both manufacturing and service organizations. Topics include procurement objectives, information systems, specification determination, supplier selection, pricing, negotiation, and disposal. Current practices such as vendor-managed inventories and supplier partnerships will be presented.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand and use the terminology used by those involved in the purchasing function
- Identify and use concepts and techniques useful in purchasing decision making
- Plan for and implement procedures used in a purchasing department
- Understand the Purchasing role in supply chain management, product innovation, supplier development, and managing product quality
