Course Overview
Builds upon information covered in MLSC 1320 -Transfusion Science 1 and MLSC 2320 – Transfusion Science 2. Introduces special transfusion situations, transfusion therapy and complex patient presentations through case studies. Covers perinatal testing and hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn. Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Perform investigation procedures used for identification of irregular antibodies.
- Perform a transfusion reaction investigation.
- Describe blood components and fractions with consideration of donor issues and special treatment of blood products.
