Course Overview
Students will identify thoracic, abdominal, pelvic and lower extremity anatomy using MRI images in multiple anatomical planes and different images weightings. Anatomical landmarking will also be included. These topics will build the foundation to other MRI-specific courses.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Differentiate structures of the Thorax and Heart on Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The following concepts, skills, and issues are used to support this Outcome:
- Musculoskeletal structures of the thorax
- Structures of the cardiovascular system in the thorax
- Soft tissue structures of the thorax
- Vessel imaging and flow concepts in the thorax and heart
- Differentiate structures of the Abdomen on Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The following concepts, skills, and issues are used to support this Outcome:
- Musculoskeletal structures of the abdomen
- Digestive and urinary structures of the abdomen
- Vascular structures of the abdomen
- Vessel imaging and flow concepts in the abdomen
- Differentiate structures of the Pelvis on Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The following concepts, skills, and issues are used to support this Outcome:
- Musculoskeletal structures of the pelvis
- Digestive and urinary structures of the pelvis
- Reproductive structures of the pelvis
- Vascular structures of the pelvis
- Differentiate the structures of the Hip on Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The following concepts, skills, and issues are used to support this Outcome:
- Skeletal structures
- Muscular structures
- Vascular and nervous structures
- Origin and insertion of the hip muscles
- Differentiate the structures of the Knee on Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The following concepts, skills, and issues are used to support this Outcome:
- Skeletal structures
- Muscular structures
- Vascular and nervous structures
- Origin and insertion of the knee muscles
- Differentiate the structures of the Foot and Ankle on Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The following concepts, skills, and issues are used to support this Outcome:
- Skeletal structures

- Vascular and nervous structures
- Origin and insertion of the foot and ankle muscles
