Course Overview
After selecting the research project topic, this course helps the student conduct a literature review to clearly define the problem and to prepare an effective proposal for the project. If by this time the student has selected an industry sponsor the proposal can be submitted to the Department for approval.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Write a professional proposal using the format and style required by Industry and BCIT Environmental Engineering Technology standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in incorporating literature reviews and research results into the professional proposal.
- Analyze audience and purpose accurately.
- Develop a strategic writing plan appropriate for proposals.
- Use clear and concise language in appropriate technical style.
- Format and structure information into appropriate segments of a proposal.
- Integrate argumentative methodologies into the proposal.
- Demonstrate thorough research and literature review techniques.
- Document research sources in a manner consistent with accepted practices.
