Course Overview
In this course students will gain an understanding of the relationship between cross-border flow of products, services, capital, ideas and people. International Management looks at global sourcing, the impact of technological advances on globalization, globalization of finance, and the success of the smaller firm in international markets. The course will also examine multinational enterprises, small and medium sized enterprises and global enterprises. The course will examine the changing nature of the international management landscape. International Management will examine corporate social responsibility and sustainability on a global level. The course will also explore the inter-disciplinary aspects of organizing, sourcing, manufacturing, marketing and other value-added activities on an international scale.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Assess the changing role of international management in business and society.
- Describe and apply international management theories including the classical trade theory (mercantilist and absolute advantage principles), comparative advantage theory, factor proportions theory, international product cycle theory, and Porter’s diamond theory.
- Assess the impacts and sustainability of emerging international management principles and theories on an organization.
- Identify management situations that can benefit from the appropriate application of international management theories.
- Plan the strategic implementation of an international management approach for an organization.
- Apply theories and concepts concerning the environment of international management; strategy and opportunity assessment of the international environment; entry and operating in international markets; and functional area excellence (interdisciplinary areas of marketing, human resource management, finance and accounting) in international management.
