Course Overview
Spend a week of intensive, hands-on digital arts training with the storytelling professionals in the BCIT Summer Tech Program! In the film production course, students will create their own video content from pre to post production. Using top-end DSLR cameras and editing on Adobe CS6, students aged 12-18 work with adult instruction in small production teams to craft their personal project. Each completed video project will be distributed onto DVD and the internet.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Tell an engaging story with an effective treatment/pitch.
- Discuss film aesthetic fundamentals.
- Demonstrate the use of visual language of film.
- Independently operate an HD camera.
- Successfully navigate Final Cut Pro editing system.
- Demonstrate basic editing skill set.
- Execute the marking and trimming of clips in a time-line
- Design music, filters, transitions, titles and credits on the time-line.
- Successfully work within a production team or as individual film professional.
- Complete elements of film production, including pre-production planning, camera work and final editing.
