Course Overview
Introduces computer and telecommunication applications in health care from a technical and management perspective. Describes the value of high quality data in managing patients and institutions effectively. Introduces participants to the Electronic Health Record, Telehealth, and the RFP process. Explores an expanded definition of technology and identifies challenges in managing information technology in healthcare. Enables course participants to compare their own skills to the role of a senior information technology manager in healthcare, using a variety of self-assessment tools and job descriptions. Assists participants to select either the HI or HTM specialization within the Health Informatics Technology Management program.
