Course Overview
This course provides a foundation in Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition systems through four major topics: Industrial Data Communications, I/O Interfacing, Data Acquisition and Human-Machine Interfacing. The HCS12 microcontroller is used as a vehicle for learning the above topics.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Connect, configure and troubleshoot industrial data communication system interfaces and protocols used in Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and process control systems.
- Analyze, design, construct and test digital I/O interfaces with an emphasis on understanding protection and isolation.
- Specify and select an appropriate data acquisition system for use in a SCADA or process control system.
- Program a human-to-machine interface for a SCADA or process control system.
