Course Overview
This course builds upon concepts presented in the microcredential, Introductory Studies in Mass Timber Construction. Students will review different types and materials used for building enclosure assemblies for mass timber construction. They will interpret plans and identify installation methods and sequences for common enclosure assemblies. Students will explain the benefits and drawbacks of various enclosure structural systems in the context of given primary structural systems. Moisture management and mitigation strategies will also be presented.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the site installation methods for common enclosure assemblies.
- Interpret installation drawings and specifications for building enclosures to determine installation sequence.
- Explain moisture management and mitigation strategies during the installation of moisture protection materials.
- Explain the types and characteristics of materials used in common prefabricated enclosure systems from engineered/curtain wood façade to conventional enclosures.
- Identify how to install detail components including seals and closures for air and water control/continuity.
