Course Overview
This course examines the technical and environmental strategies for brownfield redevelopment. It focuses on the process for determining the potential of developing a brownfield site and identifies strategies for achieving a successful redevelopment. (This is one course in a series of 5 brownfield redevelopment courses under joint development and instruction by BCIT and UBC.)

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the process of determining the potential of developing the brownfield .
- Outline the steps for a risk assessment of a brownfield redevelopment project.
- Illustrate some solution strategies for brownfield redevelopment.
- Describe the technical components that are involved in brownfield redevelopment including site assessment, remediation, municipal services, architecture / building planning and the interrelationship amongst them.
- Outline worker health and safety issues in brownfield redevelopment projects.
- Illustrate the process of project scheduling / management (allocation of resources, tasks, roles and responsibilities, managing multiple contract consultants in a labour force shortage) involved in brownfield redevelopment projects.
- Describe some methods of conflict resolution.
