Course Overview
This course allows students to engage in independent applied research or industry projects where they work with, and are supervised by, faculty and/or other researchers also engaged in a related research agenda or industry project. In order to take this course, students must receive approval from the department. Approval to take the course will normally require the following: (a) A description of a well-defined applied research or industry project. (b) Indication of a set of deliverables that can be evaluated for grading. (c) A faculty sponsor with relevant expertise’ or ongoing related research agenda that encompasses the student’s project. At the end of the course, students will present and defend their completed research thesis or industry project report to peers, faculty and/or advisor(s). Students are required to create a proposal for the implementation of their applied research or industry projects, carry out the required research and steps to implement their projects and develop a final report or thesis. The purpose of this course is to allow students to integrate knowledge and skills from all previous courses into their project design and to prepare students to execute a project at a professional level. The course is conducted both in-class and online.

- Completion of the first semester of the BBA or 50% of the required business courses or permission of the Program Head.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Prepare a written report or thesis.
- Plan and outline the schedule of work for a given project over a specified time period.
- Demonstrate effective time management by completing all tasks in the schedule of work within the allocated timeline.
- Analyze and synthesize information that meets the individual project goals and objectives that support the thesis statement developed for course approval.
- Present project summary and findings in a business and/or research setting.
- Research, analyze and develop alternative solutions for specific projects.
- Follow sound research methodologies to gather the data required for specific projects.
- Work independently and meet specified objectives aligned with specific projects.
- Identify and explain criteria for producing defendable, objective results from both quantitative and qualitative research data.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, self-evaluation and the ability to build upon critiques/findings through relationships with industry advisors and/or peers.
