Course Overview
A nine-day full-time clinical course that provides the nurse with opportunities to build on communication, collaboration, critical thinking and systematic inquiry skills related to the role of occupational health nurse. Focuses on working in groups to assess work environments and analyze jobs, and making recommendations when appropriate to improve the health and safety of the workplace. Learning occurs primarily on the BCIT campus.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Analyze situations through the application of principles of occupational health nursing, industrial hygiene, safety, ergonomics, and Job Demands Analysis.
- Prepare and deliver individual & group presentations to promote occupational health and safety.
- Give and receive effective feedback.
- Conduct an ergonomic assessment, critically analyzing the collected data and developing evidence-based recommendations for intervention.
- Prepare a report with recommendations for initial and long-term strategies to address health and safety issues.
