Course Overview
This course is designed for the average motorist that would like to learn more about their vehicle maintenance needs. The student will learn what type of maintenance a vehicle needs, why and how often. Students will learn what maintenance anybody can do at home with simple hand-tools, and what maintenance is best to take to a professional. Students will also learn some of the language and technical terms used by automotive service facilities. Students will learn how to recognize common vehicle defects and maintenance needs. Students will learn how to perform some basic inspections and minor maintenance procedures.

- Describe vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Identify the difference between acute failure and minor defects.
- Identify vehicle fluids and their importance.
- Identify fluids maintenance needs and benefits.
- Identify major brake components.
- Recognize worn safety components versus good components in brakes, tires and steering.
- Perform various inspections and maintenance procedures.
