Course Overview
This course, an introduction to occupational health nursing, focuses on work and its relationship to health. It introduces the student to the community focus of the occupational health nurse through the beginning use of frameworks, epidemiological principles, and relevant legislation. There is an emphasis on building partnerships with individual employees, management, labor, and other health and safety team members.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Prepare a report describing the work-health relationship, incorporating theory and data from various sources including interviews of workers and personal knowledge and experience.
- Interpret how various factors influence the nurse's scope of practice. Use an occupational health nursing conceptual model as a benchmark.
- Apply the Industrial health and Safety Regulations to a selected worksite by incorporating knowledge gained from theory, nursing experience and a worksite tour.
- Demonstrate growth in written and oral business communication skills.
