Course Overview
This hands-on project practicum course includes an online component and allows students to work on industry projects with faculty guidance. Our industry sponsored projects are drawn from a variety of sources, and equire extensive contact with clients in the business community. Students work in teams under the direction of a subject matter expert who is a Full-time Computing faculty member acting as their project supervisor. COMP 3925 is an elective in the CST FLEX Diploma and equivalent to COMP 3800; the Full-time CST Diploma Computer Projects course. Candidates must have completed Full-time CST Year 1 or the Computer Systems Certificate (CSC) in Flexible Learning. Full-time CST students may take this project course in the summer to lighten their workload in the fall and winter. Registration requires Computing Flexible Learning department approval. COMP 3925 is offered once a year in the spring/summer term.

- Completion of the Part-time Computer Systems Certificate (CSC) in Flexible Learning, or Full-time CST Level 2.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Determine and document project requirements.
- Plan, schedule and document project work tasks.
- Create a planning document and obtain client sign-off.
- Design a system or software application that meets the documented requirements.
- Develop and implement a system that has been designed to documented requirements.
- Test, deliver and present a working system or software application to an industry client.
- Collaborate and work effectively in a team setting with users, clients, development team members, and project sponsors.

- Please email cstflex@bcit.ca for Departmental approval. Include your Student number (A0#) and COMP__ and preferred CRN __ and Program Declaration____. Course is 60 synchronous online classes. Please Note: Attendance, participation in class and the BCIT Learning Hub are mandatory. You should prepare to spend 2-3 hours on homework for every 1 hour of class time. This course may require an average total time commitment of 15+ hours per week. Late registration is not permitted. BCIT Computing is primarily a Microsoft Windows environment. Students must provide their own current model Windows-compatible PC. i5 or higher equivalent processor, with 8 GB of RAM minimum, and 256 GB minimum storage. Highspeed internet access is needed for online sections and for homework. Mac users must have the ability to manage and support their iOS computer. They may need to create a virtual Windows environment using Parallels or VMWare Fusion. COMP instructors may not be able to assist Mac users with software compatibility issues. BCIT does not provide access to Parallels or support for students to use a Mac to run Windows. No class July 1 (Canada Day).
