Course Overview
The National Advanced Lighting Controls Training Program (NALCTP) is an internationally recognized initiative aimed at increasing the use of lighting controls in commercial buildings and industrial facilities. Through proper installation, advanced lighting controls improve energy efficiency in commercial facilities and save significant dollars. NALCTP will educate, train and certify licensed electrical contractors and certified general electricians in the proper programming, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of advanced lighting control systems in commercial facilities. Participants must have completed and passed Modules EE101, EE102, EE103, EE201 (approximately 16 hours) through Lighting Controls Association website. A certficate of completion for online study for each required Module, a copy of Red Seal Certification number and documentation must be presented before beginning the NALCTP course.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Understand lighting such as colour correlated temp (CCT) and colour rendering index (CRI).
- Know best practices for office, residential, commercial lighting and lighting levels.
- Understand lighting associated devices and their purpose. Examples:
- Occupancy sensor
- Vacancy sensor
- Day lighting sensor
- Controllers
- Dimming
- Tuning
- Understand lighting protocols such as:
- Analog 0-10v
- Dali
- BACnet
- Lon
- Wireless
- Power over Ethernet (hybrid POE)
- Install lighting systems that are currently available.
- Learn how to troubleshoot different lighting systems efficiently and effectively.
- Understand the technology, how the devices communicate, and how to install them to current standards.
