Course Overview
Designed for those with a basic knowledge and understanding of yachting with a minimum of on-the-water experience. Provides a vastly increased level of confidence and ability to handle a yacht through an intensive practical course. The course package also provides for a revision starter-package of classroom plus practical sea time on a yacht. This Certificate of Competency is internationally recognized and allows the holder to skipper commercial yachts up to 24m in length and to be Chief Mate on vessels over 24 meters in length. Required to register for part 1 and part 2 of Coastal.
Prerequisite(s)
- Must provide evidence of sea time experience; 25 days at sea as an active member of a crew, 800nm at sea out of which 2 days as watch leader / captain and 12 hours on watch at night. Applicants may enrol in the course without the above requirements. However, they will be issued the IYT certification after the requirements have been met.
