Course Overview
Graphic designers require web design skills as well as traditional media skills. In this course, students will be introduced to the foundation of front-end development and code management, and become familiar with the basic tools of web design, including coding concepts to translate web design into code. Focusing on web standards as outlined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), students will learn to hand code HTML 5, CSS3 (Cascading Styles Sheets) to control overall hierarchy, structure, functionality, layout and appearance of websites.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and implement front-end development to current web standards.
- Identify and use HTML5 elements (tags and attributes).
- Prepare images for the web, balancing speed with quality.
- Develop webpage layouts using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
- Analyze and trouble shoot error messages in web browser de-bugging tools.
- Hand-code and deploy a working website page.
- Modify and update complex multi-page CSS.

- No class on February 15, 2024. This class will be delivered in person on the Downtown campus. You will require access to the Adobe Creative Cloud to complete this course. In order to access the Adobe Creative Cloud on your personal devices for off-campus use, a subscription will be required. The cost of your Adobe subscription will be in addition to the tuition fee for this course.
