Course Overview
Through a series of lectures and work sessions presenting learning resources, case studies and green building rating systems, students will have the opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of environmentally responsible design in the construction industry.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Survey a variety of environmental case studies and range of resources in sustainable design.
- Understand the effects of the construction industry on the environment and how environmental "loadings" can be reduced or eliminated.
- Be familiar with the principles of sustainable design practice.
- Understand and apply sustainability indicators using green building rating systems.
- Participate effectively in environmentally responsible design.
