This course will give those interested in working in the railway industry the opportunity to learn essential skills required for safety in a railway yard and working on freight equipment.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:

  • Describe rules related to walking in railway yards.
  • Describe rules related to walking in front of or around freight equipment.
  • Describe safely entraining, crossing over and detraining stationary freight equipment.
  • Explain situational awareness related to railway operations.
  • Explain safety factors while in a railway yard.
