Course Overview
In this course, students learn to implement advanced Linux networking functionality with a focus on messaging services. Students develop a more in-depth understanding of protocols such as Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Domain Name System (DNS), and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and they work with applications that leverage these protocols to provide network services. The emphasis is on hands-on training where students install, configure, and manage a BIND server, OpenLDAP services, POSTFIX services, and a Zimbra server. A high-level introduction to the features and functionality of Cloud services and tools used to implement a private Cloud (such as OPENSTACK) concludes the course. Students work with both the Linux Command Line Interface and Graphical User Interfaces.
